Reviewing furniture for interior design in Singapore has once again help me discover interesting places. Vintage hunting has been a growing hobby here in Singapore, so this week i was sent check out Hock Siong & Co. For those who don’t know about them, Hock Siong is basically a rubbish collector turned vintage collected. They specialise in disposing furniture for hotels and reselling them (which means you are looking at items that are hotel grade pieces). For those who are interested, it’s said that Singapore will hit 53000 hotels in Singapore this year ( Check out the link. Can you imagine the amount of furniture that is available that they want to throw away?)
Hock Siong is located deep the factory area in Tai Seng. The space upon enter was bit of a junkyard, however upon closer digging (my favourite past time), there are quite a few items that i thought had great potential. Below are my finds:
Stained glass lamp stands, they can work well will a new lamp shade and bit of in clean in a contemporary styled neutral coloured living room. ( quite sophisticated)
Cheap art with beautiful frames can really give a pop to your space, definitely work the time to dig. (mainly chinese stuff)
These set of kopitiam dining set painted blue and white gives it a totally different vibe. reminds me of alfresco dining in Santorini(not that i’ve been there lol. but have seen a lot of pictures though)
I was pleasantly surprised by this leather covered cabinet. i can definitely imagine it in a bachelor pad.
Triangular coffee table definitely give a quirk to the space
Lamp stands that can give your space that pop of lux
Versace looking metal piece. An ornament to lie are as a paper weight?
Poufs that look very Italian!
Alright for the verdict, i give this place a 2 more because it’s not the most easy to find a particular piece you want. I love the place for the many pieces that has character, but i don’t think its a place for everyday buyers? Would be better for collectors, price wise it’s actually quite value for money. i would recommend this place if you want to look for a unique piece and want to just take your time and come back often to look for pieces.
